First Grade May Newsletter
Dear First Grade Parents,
It’s hard to believe May is here and we have come to our final month of school. There is still so much to do before May 24th!
We have left Egypt and the Nile River and have traveled to visit our neighbor to the south, Mexico. We are going to immerse ourselves in the culture of Mexico. We will be decorating our rooms with the bright colors of Mexico in preparation for our fiesta! We are excited to be having our First Grade Fiesta for the children on May 14th. We will be serving your children a delicious meal of Mexican food! A menu of items will be sent home in the coming week. However, if your child would still like to enjoy their hot lunch previously ordered from the lunch program or a sack lunch, they may.
In science we will be learning about the different habitats and who lives there: prairie, forest, desert, ocean, and underground. The students will also be able to tell the difference between carnivores, omnivores, and the herbivores.
Summer is here! Remember to bring in labeled water bottles to keep your child hydrated. Also, keep in mind that the Benchmark dress code is still in effect. Please no spaghetti straps, halter tops, or flip flops.
The First Grade team would like to offer a special thank you to all these parents who came in and got “fruity” with our Fruity Pharaohs. We also appreciate the parents who were able to take the time from their busy schedules to help with the making of our Egyptian masks. They turned out awesome!
Benchmark, as well as the First Grade Team, would like to thank you for all that you have done this year. We have had an unbelievable year because of you. We appreciate you!
