Welcome to Art!

My name is Sydnee York and I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of your student's creative experiences and creative growth! As Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist," and I plan to foster this idea and celebrate every child's art in my classroom. Art provides an opportunity for students to experience a different atmosphere from the standard classroom setting. It can be fun, relaxing, hands-on, messy, exciting, challenging, and much more!

 

Throughout this school year, I plan on introducing my students to a wide variety of artists, art styles, and art mediums. I will encourage students to talk about art both inside and outside the classroom. They will learn how to use art elements and design principles to create wonderful works of art. In my classroom, we will also be learning about how art has evolved throughout history and exploring multicultural arts and crafts. I will send home some of the work my students create throughout the year but will keep some to build their portfolios to showcase at the end of the year. On the last day of school, students will get to take all their art home.
