Course Description
Dear Second Grade Parents,
We hope you had a restful Spring break and charged up for the last eight weeks of second grade. Our journey with Peter Pan through Neverland will continue until midmonth. We will be learning more about the United States each day as postcards and letters arrive from family and friends. The next Core Knowledge adventure will take us through the delightful story of Charlotte’s Web. This book is a perfect compliment to our up coming field trip to the Arizona State Fair, science unit on life cycles, and the annual Benchmark Science Fair. The Science Fair is Wednesday, April 26th, 2nd grade viewing hours are from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, hopefully, your child has already begun their projects for the fail.
Stanford 10 Testing will be April 16th and 17th. Please make sure your child has a healthy and hearty breakfast, arrives on time, packs a healthy snack, and gets a good night’s sleep on these two days. We are currently learning about nutrition with “Little D” a brightly colored dragon. The Royal Food Family teaches us about nutrition and the five food groups. Ask your son or daughter about King Henry the Egg, Queen Anna Banana, Princess Pea Pod, Prince Waffle, and Sir Milkford the Scholar.
In social studies, we will travel across Asian exploring the cultures of China, Japan, and India.
Thank you for attending and contributing to second grades Greek Festival. An additional thank you goes out to Blue Willo Catering for the delicious luncheon. We would also like to send out a special thank you to Mrs. Kauffman for an outstanding Art Masterpiece last month. She provided an amazing Art Masterpiece project all by herself for sixty-four students, You Rock!
