Students at Benchmark Elementary find many opportunities to challenge themselves through our rigorous phonics-based literacy curriculum, Core Knowledge curriculum and Singapore Math. Motivated learners are given time to explore concepts in small groups and pull-outs to extend their learning, and our students routinely score in top percentiles statewide on standardized tests. Test scores at Benchmark Elementary are nearly twice as high as the state average for Arizona, suggesting that most students at our school are performing above or significantly above grade level.

Inspiration extends to the whole child at Benchmark Elementary. Patriotism is a core value for us, and throughout the year our students participate in school flag raising, Veterans Day celebrations, service learning and rigorous study of American history. We inspire our students to love our country!
Our Daily Core Virtues curriculum engages all students with age-appropriate character education that is easily applied to their lives. Each month teachers highlight a key intellectual, moral, or civic virtue – such as respect, responsibility, diligence, honesty, generosity, or perseverance. They read quality children’s literature at a “Morning Gathering” to provide inspirational or insightful examples of virtue in action. Through Daily Core Virtues, Benchmark ignites our students' imagination, inspiring them to do and be their best.
3. Assistance When It’s Needed
Each Benchmark Elementary classroom is structured with small groups that are paced to individual learning abilities. Thanks to our small-school environment and two-teacher classroom model, Benchmark teachers get to know each student well and can quickly step in to support a child that may be struggling with a subject.
