About the Makerspace

Our Makerspace focuses on using design thinking to solve problems - all aspects of STEAM learning are rolled into our projects.  We use a variety of tools and technologies, including computers for research, design, programming, photo and video editing, and sharing our awesome projects with the world and community; 3D pens and printer to design and prototype objects; and robots to learn the basics of robotics and coding. We also use a lot of cardboard, bottlecaps, and tape to make and design prototypes.

Each year, our project focus changes based on the needs of the community.  Some projects we have completed in the past are a custom soccer goal for the playground and a life-size Operation game, which made its debut at our Spring Carnival.

In addition to special projects, we learn basic skills everyone needs for the 21st Century.  Typing practice begins in second grade, and we have fun competing for awards and trophies for practice time and accomplishment.  In addition to learning to type, we learn some of the basic technology tools 21st Century students will need in further education, such as word processing, presentations, and graphics.
